Featured Author #2

You already know I'm the March "Featured Author" at Horror World, but I'll bet you don't know that I'm also the March Featured Author at the Doorways Writing Forum:

The idea here is a writing challenge: Anyone who wants to participate agrees to write a 3,000-4,000 word short story in a month. At the end of the month I'll offer as much feedback as I can on each story.

But I'm also participating by writing a story. Like everyone else taking part in the challenge, I'm starting from scratch. Yesterday I had no idea what I'd write about, but this morning I came up with my idea. I've always liked the Ellisonian notion of demystifying the creative process (even though setting oneself up to write in a store window, as Harlan used to do, truthfully seems a bit to me like paying a quarter to see the conjoined twins). I plan on posting throughout the month at the forum as I progress with the writing of the story (and yes, it wouldn't normally take me an entire month to write one story, but I'm drawing this out for the sake of the challenge).

In fact, I think I'll go over there right now and post my basic idea. If you're curious...well, you'll just have to drop by and check it out.
