Good and evil
Dialogue exchange just now in the bookstore:
CUSTOMER (has a copy of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil): Do you know of any other books about good and evil?
ME: Uhhh...try every novel ever written.
CUSTOMER (after giving me a long, blank stare): No, I mean that would have "good and evil" in the title.
ME: Hmmm...I can check...
CUSTOMER: I mean...that would specifically address good and evil.
ME: That's still pretty broad. Can you narrow it down at all? Fiction, nonfiction...?
CUSTOMER: Well, I just want to read up on good and evil, because I was just in New Orleans, and I saw evil for the first time.
ME (after trying successfully not to laugh): Maybe our theology section...?
(At that point she obviously wasn't into taxing her brain any further, so she just bought Midnight in the Garden.... I was very bad, and had to add)
ME: I think this is set in New Orleans.
(I thought her eyes would pop out of her head. Now, I know the book's set in Savannah, but...that was SO worth it.)
