Harry Potter and the Department of Muggleland Security

The president of Scholastic (for those of you living in Siberian gulags, Scholastic publishes the Harry Potter books) sent a message to booksellers today, regarding sales of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Check out the rules:

*Please remember that all boxes of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows are to remain sealed and in a secure location that is not visible to the public until 12:01 a.m. on July 21.

*If a box is opened or a carton or book is visible it could potentially spoil the magic for millions of fans who are waiting to get their book at 12:01 a.m. on July 21.

*If you hear of or see anybody opening boxes or obtaining actual books prior to 12:01 a.m. on July 21, it is urgent that you contact your Scholastic rep immediately. You can also reach Scholastic Headquarters directly at 1-800-558-8341.

I'm nervous now to buy one under any circumstances! What if I read it and then happen to "spoil the magic" in casual conversation? What if I hate it and trade it in? What if I get absent-minded and leave my copy sitting somewhere - with my fingerprints all over it?!!!

Guantanamo, here I come.
