Where horror comes from

I've mentioned before that one reason I'm a horror writer is probably because of my childhood trips to - wait for it - DISNEYLAND. Yep, the Happiest Place on Earth scared me half to death upon occasion. A big one was when dad held me up to the see the giant squid out the porthole in the long-vanished 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction.

Well, my man just turned up this photo:

See that little girl in the white dress who is kind of kneeling at lower right, hunched over like she's ready to take off if she could only tear her eyes away from that terrifying thing she's looking at? Might as well be me.

Between this and the guy who used to stand in front of the Main Street Cinema dressed as Chaney's Phantom, I think I owe part of my horror career to Disney. Thanks, Unca Walt!
