Halliburton and plagiarism

Within the space of ten minutes this morning, I read one article about a high-school student who got a $500,000 book deal with Little, Brown for two novels it seems she may have committed some pretty intense plagiarism to "write", and another article about how Halliburton (or its subsidiaries) is taking its no-bid government contracts to rebuild Iraq and throwing them at utterly impossible projects (front page of today's New York Times).

And the more I thought about it, the more I saw a connection. Yep, when the top is this corrupt, of course it's going to spread. I think this is the finest example of the "trickle-down" theory yet!
