Back to writing

Now that The Big Move is done, I'm trying to return to my regularly-scheduled life as a writer, but it's hard. I've been plagued lately by one absurd bureaucratic nightmare after another, everything from trying to get our DSL installed at the new store to firing my old dentist when he tried to charge me three times as much as every other dentist in town to fix my broken tooth.

So, I'm going to announce two writing things here in the hopes of getting my mind off teeth, taxes, and telephones:

I'll be signing the long-awaited Mondo Zombie anthology on May 20th at Dark Delicacies, along with editor John Skipp and fellow contributor Steve Niles. I'm really proud of my story here, "Sparks Fly Upward", which tackles the issue of abortion in the context of a post-apocalyptic zombie world.

And my new throwdown with Mike Marano is now up at Chizine...although truthfully it's more of a love-in than a throwdown, since we both absolutely loved Fruit Chan's Dumplings.

Now, wish me luck on returning to my poor abandoned child Netherworld. When we left off in the polish, our heroine was taking a "doolie" (covered sedan chair) through the streets of colonial Calcutta's "Black Town", and was beginning to be unnerved by the images of the goddess Kali she was seeing everywhere...
