Signing madness

We had a great time yesterday at the launch party and signing for the Dark Delicacies anthology. We had nine of the contributors, both editors, and long lines! I'm very pleased that Dark Delicacies almost sold out of the book yesterday, and Del tells me the first hardback print run is basically sold out now.

If you missed yesterday, all is not lost: I'll be doing another appearance to support the book, joined once again by the lovely and talented Jeff Gelb and Del Howison, and contributor Robert Steven Rhine:

I'll also be appearing at Wacko on Melrose on Thursday, October 20, along with the likes of karenetaylor, ladyeuthanasia, Denise Dumars, screenwriters Courtney Joyner, Jace Anderson and Adam Gierasch, and more. Details to follow...

In other news: I think I finally solved my problems with the rewrite of Nephilim. I thought this rewrite would be cake; I should know by now that NO rewrite is easy for me. I just ain't got the rewrite gene. But I think I've figured it out now. Maybe it was a result of that groovy dream I had last night, the one in which I was driving around San Diego on a Vespa solving crimes, and afterwards sharing some incredibly delicious butterscotch tea latte with mom. Go figure.

My Blue Demon partner Brett Thompson just sent me this:,6903,1577753,00.html?gu

This really is almost the plot of Blue Demon - just replace dolphins with sharks and you got it. When we set out to write Blue Demon, part of the inspiration did come from knowing that they'd done a little of this with dolphins, but I really had no idea it was this close. Damn, I'm good!
