The only depressing thing about that photo I posted yesterday is that someone from Lion's Gate named it "Devil Older Couple". Hey, c'mon...I'll take the "Devil", but that "Older" thing just wrankles me!

I finally pulled the best of all the Stoker photos 3 different photogs gave me, and here's a link to my Stoker 2005 photo album:

BOOK: I can't seem to focus on anything lately. I've picked up and read parts of Gary Braunbeck's The Collected Cedar Hill Stories Vol. 1 (which is great), but for some reason my attention keeps wandering. Same with writing. Maybe I've overloaded myself with movies lately. Maybe it's just coming down from months of intense activity on the Stoker planning. Whatever it is, I need to move past this and concentrate again.

MOVIES: Mr. and Mrs. Smith - what's the most appropriate spelling for a genuine gag sound? Oh, I think it's the title of this movie! This is the first time I've ever desperately wanted Wong Jing or Simon Loui to rip off a movie; even the worst Hong Kong remake would be vastly more entertaining than this bloated, static, dull piece of Hollywood detritus.

Young and Dangerous - we've been re-watching the entire series again recently (we're up to #4 now), and what a pleasure it's been. Y'know, at least when the HK filmmakers cast somebody as gorgeous as Cheng Yee-kin, they make his amazing good looks part of the story (Hello, Tom Cruise as a dockworker in Bore of the Worlds...); Cheng's character Chan Ho-nam rises quickly through the Triad ranks partly because he's so charismatic. And boy is Jordan Chan great as Mountain Chicken. I love the chemistry between Jordan and Yee-kin. Could happily watch another ten of these cinematic potato chips.

The Glass Crap

My good friend Del Howison fax'ed me an ad yesterday for this titanic piece of crap. Haha. Very funny, Del. And no, I will NOT be doing any signings for this.

Really?

This appeared in the latest newsletter from Cemetery Dance:

"We experienced a last minute snafu with the zombie anthology
MONDO ZOMBIE (involving editor John Skipp's amazing story), but
we're nearly finished with the redesign on his contribution and
expect to be at press within a week or so."

I'll believe it when I see it. I really want this to come out, because my story "Sparks Fly Upward" from this anthology will probably end up being one of the most controversial things I've ever written. It has some not-very-nice things to say about the anti-abortion movement in this country, and would probably get me shot by any member of Operation Rescue.
