Seeing stars

Congrats to Del and Jeff, the intrepid editors of the Dark Delicacies anthology, which received a starred review in Publisher's Weekly! The review referenced Del's excellent afterword several times, and should bode well for the book's sales.

And a special thanks to ladyeuthanasia for the invite to her swell birthday shindig Saturday night. The food was great, the company even better - Karen Taylor looked too cute in her new do, Christa Faust was getting hit on by guys into her tats (that's TATS, you cheeky monkey), Abbie Bernstein and I shared stories about our multiple submission attempts on Hot Blood 13 ("Too complicated!" "Too simple!"), and Maria "Birthday Girl" Alexander was a glowing and gracious hostess.

I spent most of the weekend (when I wasn't ranting at the hysterical and shrieking media coverage of Hurricane Katrina - yes, boys, New Orleans really is still there, despite your attempts to have us believe otherwise) trying to figure out how to put everything I know about doing horror in small theater into 2,000 words (for the second edition of HWA's Writing Horror). I keep ending up with 2,500, then 2,300. Man, this is tough.

Abbie Bernstein?
Hi Lisa, it's Rocky (don't know how to create an ID - or an Id - though I got a SuperEgo!)
Is the Abbie Bernstein you are talking about the same Abbie Bernstein who wrote plays for LAAT and, Warning Shots? If so, tell her I said hello 'dere!

Also - what's this horror playwriting thingy about?

One more thing. Congratulations on the Stoker Hootenanny. Wish I coulda been there.
